  1. I have kids. And I like to be modern, and arts and crafty. All the toys and stuff isn’t coming together that way I would like them to! All I have kept doing is start boxing things up and putting them in the attic, now I need HELP!!

  2. We have so much “clutter” and I can tell it stops the flow- but with 3 kids we seem to need so much stuff. I would love to find some way to manage the necessary stuff, get rid of the unecessary stuff and increase good energy!

  3. Wow. Great question.. I would have to say clearing and keeping clutter and chaos out to my home. I feel like I’m pulled in so many different directions with my career and other activities that i have to be very aware of it not gaining the upper hand or me not allowing it to take over. I find I’m needing more simple and stable home to be more balanced to handle the demands of life. This also is more diffcult with a few rooms in the remodel stage.
Can’t wait to read the book!!!

  4. Clutter. Clutter. Clutter. See? I’m cluttering this post right now with words. I work from home and I have a lot of paperwork that goes along with that. Add to that bills, bottles of things, cat toys, dog toys, cats, dogs… well you get the idea. I have a hard time throwing things out and tend to accumulate stuff. I’d love to learn how to get rid of things and throw things out before they make it to a pile to deal with later. I want to keep the pets though.

  5. The room I use as an office is in need of some attention. I recently changed the work I do and my office no longer feels like it fits me or flows very well.

  6. My biggest challenge is my office. It seems to be the catch-all place in the house when we are not sure what to do with something. I have nothing hung on the walls and too much stuff on the floor, like musical instruments, old school projects and goodwill items.

  7. Hi Tisha!
What a great idea! My biggest challenge is keeping up with and paying for all the upkeep that my house requires. The other biggest challenge is keeping up with clutter and mess that my three teenaged boys bring in and create on a daily basis!

  8. CONGRATULATIONS to Brecca, Sunny, and Dee. You are the first 3 to Comment and win a copy of my book! Keep the comments coming everyone for a chance to win a FREE 2-hour feng shui consultation!

    Thanks!!
    Tisha

  9. My biggest challenge with any space is staying clear and organized and giving a space it’s identity! I am also getting ready to leave my sweet house and move into a rental so will have a blank slate for feng shui!! Can’t wait to read the book!!!

  10. My husband and I want a calm and tranquil home that at present is anything but that. It’s been this way for more than two years. I suffer sometimes dibilitating fatigue due to multiple sclerosis and that doesn’t help the state of the house nor does the state of the house help my m.s. If our friend Mary Claire likes you, then I am sure you are the one who can help.

  11. My biggest challenge are closets and hanging onto “the memories.” Of course, some I want to always keep, others are difficult.

  12. Our biggest challenge is even attending to our home. It is full of half completed projects, unpainted walls, windows, 1/2 of a kitchen, etc… These are all jobs we can do ourselves, but never have the time to do it. At this time it looks like teenagers live in our house….

  13. I have a few challenges with our home. It’s cramped with myself, my two children, 3 pets and 2 foster kittens. Plus my art work space is taking up a good portion of our family room. The second challenge is finishing up 1/2 started projects…walls are painted but i’m having a hard time getting to the trim work and the wallpaper is now off the walls in the bathroom but haven’t had time to scrap ceiling and paint. :-( ~

  14. I guess I am lucky to have plenty of space (1000 sq ft) for myself. And I don’t have much clutter — I took care of that part myself. My challenge is how to best use the great room. It connects to the kitchen so I have a dining table. And it works for my living room, too. Because I love the view from the window, I also do the majority of my work here, too, usually on the dining table. It’s so multi-functional. I’m just not sure if it’s a good idea to have my macbook always on the table. My work blends with my life, and the room represents it. But I don’t want to cut up the room with divider, either. Any idea to bring some separation and organization while keeping the benefits of the great room?

  15. Teaching thinking skills to very young children- along with parent education -(focused in the inner city) is my mission in life and everything I do is connected (from art/ music/ brain development/ baby massage/ “hands on” gardening/ baby yoga/ baby sign language to parent newsletters/ parent scrapbooking/ sibling homework/ and volunteer photographer at some childrens’ birthday parties in the projects. As a right brain creative teacher, my gift and & my curse is the same: being a very resourceful “packrat” of everything mission related along with 101 ways to use each one. I am overwhelmed with -and in love with– the useful stuff that brain researchers have proven to create gifted children…

  16. Congratulations on publishing the book Tisha. I am in serious need of a home feng shui consultation. My family is in the process of simplifying our lives and we are removing some of the clutter that interrupts the flow of the household. In addition, I aim to bring a greater sense of calm, sanctuary and positive energy to our home. Best wishes with your continued practice.

  17. My home office seems to be a catch all for a variety of stuff that comes into our home. No matter how many times I clean my desk, all manner of junk, mail, receipts, cds, etc. seem to materialize in various stacks on the desk floor and other surfaces.
This room has a side door entrance and is the second room guests see when they come through this door.
I really want this room to be neat, clean, welcoming and a comfortable place in which to work. What can I do to change these clutter patterns that are driving me nuts!

  18. I have an old home with big rooms and high celings. There are at least three windows and doors in each room of the house, leaving little wall space. How can I arrange furniture to not block chi?

  19. These are great responses everyone and good information for me knowing what common problems we have in our home. Keep them coming!!

@Janet- I have a blog article on children memorabilia on the Home page of my blog (left side).
@Meg- Just because you can do it yourself, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hire someone. I know you and know that you could probably do just about anything, but that doesn’t mean you should. Save your time for those things you do and enjoy the most.
@Rob-Thank you! Sounds like positive changes are underway!
@Akemi- I used my dining room table for my laptop workstation for years and loved it. If you are paperless like me, then I don’t see a problem with it. Unless it does prevent you from using it as a dining room. I had a hutch nearby that I would just put my computer in at the end of the day, along with anything else I was using.
@Mary- I am excited for your blank canvas– make beautiful art with it! And remember with any great art piece there needs to be some quiet spaces ;)

  20. As some things in my life have grown difficult, my home has grown cluttered and less welcoming. I am anxious to reclaim my space and make it back into a true home. I know that other aspects of my life will also fall better when I am can be more at peace with my house.

  21. My biggest challenge in my home is my studio. I want to work, but I walk in, look around, and walk out. I just have not been able to get comfortable in that space.

  22. Hi Trish! First of all I wanted to thank you for being such an inspiration to us all! You’re messages are truly amazing… Congratulations on your new book release!

    Have a great weekend!
    ~Christine
